Babymoon

Lots to catch up on here for our readers, we’ll start with our trip down to South Florida last week. We spent 4 nights in Fort Lauderdale and had a blast! Our little Kia scooted us down to Key West, up to Delray Beach, and down to Miami. Our hotel was on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, it was a cool place with tons of yachts parked out back.

The weather was good and the food was even better for the week, we had anything from Cuban to seafood to pizza. It was much easier not hearing the news/results of the Olympics and watching them 'live' at the hotel at night, so that was cool. I’ll let the captions in the pictures do the rest of the splainin.

First stop on our way down to the keys. We fed some HUGE tarpons, if the video works below you can check out a live shot

Wasn't worth waiting in line for a picture with it, but here ya have it

Bonnie is in her 26th week with the little bean. At her last appointment Bean gave the doc a swift kick when she went to take the heartbeat, how great is that? She is still feeling well overall. The nursery is almost finished, we spent a few days painting/sanding/finishing the dresser and end table white, it is looking goooood. Tonight we are going to meet with a couple in Grant Park about potentially doing a nanny share, hopefully it works out, we got their information through Susan.

We also went to cousin Kelly’s wedding two weeks ago in Minnasooohhta. It was really fun seeing the Olausens, Nate’s family and Ryan were there too. The morning of we golfed with Uncle Tom, Steve, and Mike. Bonnie stayed behind with Erica and Maggie and played with the kids. The wedding itself was very...interesting!

Pretty sure Ryan's stain is from Seth clearing off our whole table during the reception

Outside the reception
Hannah danced the whole time
Before golf Saturday morning. Forecast of 100% rain luckily turned out to be 100% wrong. Besides psyching each other up to being outside for 5 hours of downpour, conversation was us compiling the 'All-Mets' team.

In other news, Casie had little Isla last week! It may be a while but we can't wait to meet her and see the three sisters together!

Its a...

Boy or girl! We had the ultrasound last Friday (July 6). Mary and Laura came down for the occasion. Bean is 1.2 pounds, which I guess is sort of big for 22 weeks, everything else checked out well. It was really cool to see the lady zoom in on different parts, Bean even stuck his/her tongue out when she was zoomed in on the face! Laura tried getting some inside information on the gender but didn't get very far.

Bonnie is still feeling pretty well despite getting kicked more and more by the little jumper. There is an updated pic of the belly below, we spent yesterday afternoon at the pool. Bonnie had the day off b/c her work didn't take July 4th off.

We ate goooood when Mary and Laura were down, Fox Brothers on Friday and Anticos on Saturday. After Anticos Natalie and her parents swung by to see everyone, it was cool all of the IU girls got to catch up for a bit. Elise was in town for the weekend as well.

Day off = pool day!
The nursery is coming along well. I don't think we know the workers at Target, IKEA, and Babies R US yet but we may before the end of the month. Here are the up to date purchases/gifts thus far...
IKEA- Curtains, rugs, shelves, baskets, dresser
Target- Crib, pack-in-play
Babies R US- Glider, stroller/carseat

6 hours of struggle, redeemed by comfort of final product

Almost done...

Other than that not much else is new. We watched Mike and Holly's dog Madie last weekend, it was pretty much (al)literal constant combination of craziness, caution, and catastrophic chaos. They had fun together to say the least. But aren't they cute?
Neither dog ever 'out-annoyed' the other as they both apparently always do to older dogs they hang with
And apparently some dogs don't sleep...
It has rained every day for about a week (sound like Indiana needs it) but the week before it was record-setting heat. We went to a Braves/Mets game this past Friday with the Bolliers, it was really fun and good to catch up with Jon. We also booked flights to Minnesota this weekend for Kelly's wedding and Fort Lauderdale for the first week in August for a Babymoon, should be a fun few weeks!
Enjoyed this

Just for Kicks

I'll try and recap the last few weeks in some kind of sensible way. We took the team up to Indiana three weekends ago (June 6th - 10th). The trip went great, I drove with the team Wednesday (our anniversary) as Bonnie flew, we spent Thursday at the lake, Friday at Lester's farm and a scrimmage at Leo, Saturday tournament at IWU, pool party in Danville, and Sunday at Cincinnati for Mike's camp and back to Atlanta. The trip, although a complete whirlwind, was definitely worth it looking back on it, there were a few weeks in there we were doubting whether it would happen.
Lester taking some boys on a buggy ride

We spend our 'weekend off' of going to Indiana trying to find a blueberry farm with Jon and Vanessa, in a very roundabout way we ended up at a gem out near Athens. Bon has done a great job finding recipes for the blueberries, then we took a bunch up to Danville.

Picking blueberrie
Bean is growing so fast it is crazy. Besides size (small cantaloupe, I say softball, see below post...) the coolest change is Bonnie is feeling kicks! I felt one today for the first time, it was way cool. 20 weeks in means half way home.  We had an appointment last week and heard the heartbeat again, Dr Cook's words were "Strong and steady, sounds like a boy!" It is so cool to hear. Mary and Laura are coming down in two weekends for the 22 week ultrasound.

This past weekend we went up for Bonnie's baby showers and Tyler Morningstar's wedding. The wedding was fun, it happens so rarely now but it is always great to see all of the Leo guys. Everyone was there except Kyle, Rhys was born this week. The guys also played our fantasy football golf round at Walnut Creek Sunday morning, Ray hit a birdie putt on 18 to beat Adam. My driver broke on the 2nd hole, not sure if I will get another one or get it fixed.

Laura threw Bonnie's shower on Saturday in Danville and Casie threw one on Sunday. It sounded like they went great, Bonnie was especially excited to see Tony Jo. Everyone was so gracious, there are definitely quite a few things we got to check off for Bean. The crib came the Monday we got back (yesterday) and I put it together, it looks great! Third time was the charm.

Cribs

Bonnie's pregnancy has gone very well over the last few weeks. She is on week 18 and this week especially really started to show. These baby websites drive me pretty crazy because from weeks 13 to 18 the fruits have all been the same size and, in some cases, even sent me to google (kumquat? really?). To me a much more natural progression would be marble, golf ball, raquet ball, tennis ball, bocce ball, softball, etc. Oh well.

In other Bean News we registered a few weeks ago at Babies R Us and Target. Today we returned crib number 2. The first one we got off Craigslist and ended up selling it back (drop-side) and the second one we bought from Wal-Mart and came out of the box with a few healthy chunks out of it. More to come on this later...

We drove up to Indiana with the Kims for Memorial Weekend. Bonnie spent the weekend in Danville, she got to visit Erin with Natalie and also meet Finley. I was up between Leo and the Lake for the Clark Olympics, it was an awesome few days for sure. We are going up again this upcoming Wednesday with the basketball team, should be another adventure.

The rest of the pictures are of Jeff and Tiff's awesome boys. Josh and Caleb had a blast with our animals, as you can see. We had a great time with them all week, a few highlights included Jeff and Neil coming to practice one day, Fox Brothers, IKEA, and Phase 10.

Heartbeat

On Tuesday this week I left school early for Bonnie's 13 week appointment. We ate some Market pizza for lunch and headed down to Piedmont Hospital (on Peachtree, go figure..). The appointment went really fast, but we did get to hear Bean's heartbeat which was so cool! Swish swish swish swish swish. After the appointment we went to Target to get Bean's first present and ended up getting....nothing. We debated on a few books and on a few jumpsuits, everything seemed to girly or too boyie. It was pretty funny, we really had no clue what to get. Sorry buddy! Next appointment is in June.
Bon at the Dr. this week
Bonnie started her 2nd trimester today. She is still feeling good overall, still gets tired pretty early but other than that so far so good. In other baby news Erin had Finley this week. If Bean is as stubborn as FinFin we may end up having a baby on Thanksgiving.
Bean is the size of a plumb, Ruby wants to eat a plumb

This morning I golfed with Andrew, Jon, and Matt at Southland, it was really fun and a good tune up for the Clark Olympics in a few weeks. Tonight we are going to see the Zac Brown Band, they are playing at the Lakewood Amplitheatere here in a few hours. It is supposed to rain, should be fun regardless. Bon's cinnamon raisin bread is done so I'm done, till next time!

Empty Bag

I see it has been 13 days since we posted last. Bonnie has felt pretty good for the most part. She has not eaten or wanted to eat any vegetables, which is very different, but has been eating a lot of cottage cheese. Besides her residency, her and Bean have been hanging out the most in the kitchen; chocolate chip cookies, tomato/vegetable soup, 6 loaves of bread (yesterday with Vanessa), and blueberry muffins have been a few of the highlights. We also found out Bean does not like popcorn, we got some yesterday at the Dogwood festival and it didn't sit so well with Bon.
Bean is the size of a lime in the 11th week!

This was also the week the cat escaped. It was really fun skyping with the brothers, we told Jeff and Tiff Tuesday, Nate and Erica Wednesday, Adam and Casie Friday, and Ryan and Kristin today (Sunday). The reactions were great! We emailed a picture of the ultrasound while we were talking and had them open their email. We also skyped in to Hannah's birthday party today which was really fun.

We told small group on Wednesday night during prayer requests at the end, I said it pretty nonchalantly so a few of them thought we were joking, it was pretty funny. We need to work out the kinks in our delivery announcement when we see people. Example: Today at church as Bonnie was small talking with Amy (wife)  and I was small talking with Dave (husband) it was clear (to me) we weren't going to tell them AND that we couldn't remember Lilly's (baby) name. Just as I uttered the sentence to Dave "Golf season is over tomorrow and school is over in five weeks, other than that nothing new at all with us" Bonnie says "we are pregnant" to Amy. Haha! Lots of room for improvement in the delivery announcement category.

Not much else to report. Bonnie had her second Doctors appointment and it went well. We went to a McNair baseball game to watch Mike and Coach Dunton was grilling ribs in left field during the entire game. To quote Mr. Jackson......."Gooooo Mustangs!"

Ultra Sound Spring Break

This past week has really fun and wild. Most importantly Bonnie feels pretty good overall and Bean is growing every day. Here is a quick play by play..

Monday-Mom and Dad got in late Sunday night, they left after Caleb's baby dedication. Dad and I played golf at the Frog which was really fun. The course was in awesome shape and we both played well. Mom graded essays all day, Bonnie worked. We had Mellow Mushrooms for dinner and watched Kentucky beat Kansas for the national championship. The highlight of the day was telling them about Bean,we decided on telling them during the prayer for dinner. Mom almost fainted into Bonnie when I said it

Tuesday- Bonnie worked in the morning and the three of us went to the Cyclorama at Grant Park. Bonnie and I went to the first doctor's appointment for Bean while my parents worked on killing all the bees in our backyard. It was so excited to meet our little friend!

The appointment went very well and we really liked Dr. Cook. She was very personal and answered a lot of our questions. It was a surreal feeling to look at the ultrasound and see Bean, needless to say a fair amount of angst quickly turned to joy. 7.4 weeks is about a week older than we thought, they gave us a November 16th due date and we were thinking it would be Thanksgiving. That little heart is beating 163 times a minute! I have been 50/50 on gender since the get go but once we saw the ultrasound I sure thought Bean looked like a boy, they seemed to lean toward girl b/c of the heartbeat. We'll see. So cool!

We got home and celebrated with my parents at Agave. It was really fun to have them here during these few days and they were helpful in lots of ways as always.

Wednesday- Dad and I dropped Bonnie off and played nine holes at North Fulton, then they took off around 10. I went to get my teeth cleaned, then to an eye exam, then back to get 3 cavities filled. Tommy Taylor got here just before I got home, we dropped Ruby off at the Arrowoods, then picked up Bonnie and headed south to the Beach! Besides the 13 miles a gallon in the Jeep it was a fun ride, we got to Coop's at about 2 in the morning after picking up Vanessa in Ocala.

Thursday- Before Bonnie and Vanessa left for the condo from Coop's she told her the news, here is the reaction...

Tommy and I fried ourselves by playing 2 and a half hours of tennis while we waited on Cooper to get home from school, fun but deadly. We got to the condo, got some bocce in while the girls laid out, and had a nice spaghetti dinner.

Thursday-Sunday- Lots of golf, gulf, beach, bocce ball, cornhole, IUopoly, Tiger, Masters, Kite Runner, pizza, frisbee, laying out, and football.

We had a great break but are absolutely wiped out. We got up at 4:30 this morning to drive so Tommy could get up north by a respectable time. Got home from Easter service tonight in time to see Bubba win the Masters. Time for bed. No doctors appointment until next Tuesday, Bean is the size of an Olive though how crazy !
